Big Break Sandals Resort week 3, the “shark attack” featured a guest appearance from Greg Norman, who took the ladies through some tough short game shots for the first elimination challenge.

If you missed out on last weeks episode, you can catch up here Big Break Sandals Resort – Week 2

The immunity challenge was a team challenge with three very tough short game shots, where the team with the highest score wins.

Each shot is worth up to three points at the closest and one point if they land on the green. The teams choose a player to hit each shot.

The teams are:

Team 1
Carling
Seema
Maiya

Team 2
Ryann
Taryn
Sara

Team 3
Lili
Stacey
Chris

1st shot was a 30-40 yard bunker shot out of the sand, into the wind and none of the teams scored

2nd shot was a bump & run shot with Team 2 and Team 3 each scoring one point.

3rd shot flop shot from the rough and Teams 1 & 3 didn’t get a point and team 2 scored two points, giving them the win.

Winners of the immunity challenge had lunch with Greg Norman and had to “help” him decide who to save. He had three contestants in mind, Sara, Seema and Carling. After some deliberation, they decided to save Seema, who just last week barely avoided elimination.

The second immunity challenge was to break a square pane of glass in the fewest shots possible. The first part was to hit the ball into a circle 100 yards away, once in the circle, could use whatever shot possible to break the glass.

Maiya went first and took two shots getting into the circle. Once in the circle she broke the glass in three shots, for a total of five.

Sara made it in the circle on her first shot and took two shots breaking the glass for a total of three.

Carling was third and after missing two shots to the circle, was out of the immunity challenge.

Ryann landed her first shot in the back right of the circle and had an opportunity to win the challenge. She took a different approach, chipping the ball closer to the glass on her second shot, giving herself a much better chance to tie Sara. She missed her third shot a couple inches to the right of the pane of glass and was out of the challenge.

Taryn was last up, and landed her first shot in the front left of the circle. She has two opportunities to join Sara in the winners circle and missed both shots joining Ryann, Carling and Maiya in the elimination challenge.

The elimination challenge takes place on the 10th hole of Sandals Resort. Each player will hit one shot from two trouble shot locations the player that’s closest to the hole for each shot will be safe and the remaining two players will square off on the par-4 10th hole and the loser will be the third contestant eliminated from Big Break Sandals Resort.

The first shot was a slightly blind chip shot to an elevated green and the results are below.

Maiya 58`9″
Taryn 19`4″
Carling 3`7″
Ryann 5’2″

Carling was the closest and was safe for another show (phew!)

The second shot was a sandhill lie with no solid footing, the results are below..

Taryn 2’1″
Ryann 18`6″
Maiya 5`5″

Taryn with a near chip-in was safe, leaving Ryann and Maiya, two former college teamates to go head to head for the final leg of the elimination challenge.

Both tee shots land in the fairway with Maiya further out. Her second shot was short about 15 yards from the green. Ryann’s second shot landed about 15 feet past the hole. Maiya’s third shot was short leaving her a long par putt, which she ended up missing. Ryan sank her birdie putt, making Maiya Tanaka the third contestant sent home from the Big Break Sandals Resort.

This weeks episode has been by far my favorite so far. It was much more engaging and had you on the edge of your seat. The final challenge between Ryann and Maiya was an emotional challenge with a bittersweet ending. It was cool seeing Greg Norman and witnessing his interaction with a bunch of smitten, extremely talented, lady golfers.

I’m looking forward to next week!
