The second Little Linksters Tour event is taking place this Saturday, August 20th at the Faldo Institute’s Grand Vista 9-hole course. My oldest son Aiden and I took part in the first event at Orange County National and we had a blast.
If you’ve not heard of the Little Linksters, it’s junior golf program that planted it’s roots in Orlando and is a great way to introduce your 3-8 year old to the wonderful game of golf. The program has been around for a couple years and although the format has slightly altered over the years, their mission has remained the same, introducing young kids to golf in a way that is fun, engaging and will leave them excited for the next lesson.
I’ve got to tell you, it’s a proud moment in a parents life when they get to watch their kids partake in their first “real” golf tournament. To see them try their best to win whilst encouraging their fellow players plants a seed that one can only hope will grow into a tree with branches leading to the professional arena.. 🙂

The second event is taking place out at the Grand Vista 9-hole course at the Faldo Instituteon Saturday, August 20th, 2011 at 9:00am.
The order of events is as follows:
- Registration (“Goodie” Bags & Welcome)
- Tour of Facility (Golf shop, Clubhouse, Cart Barn, Driving Range, Academy, etc.)
- Competition (3-4 yrs- 3 holes; 5-6 yrs- 6 holes; 7-8 yrs- 9 holes)
- Putting Contest, Games
- Lunch
- Awards
The cost is $45 per player and you can register online here.
Your junior golfers skill is irrelevant, Brendon and the rest of the Little Linksters team want you to come out and have a good time.
I’ll be there with my six year old Aiden, I figure for $45 dollars, you get to spend an enjoyable round of golf with your little one and it’s a great way to expose them to friendly golf competition.
Let me know if you plan on attending, I’d love to meet you and your junior golfer!
