Journalist to Join Staff as a Contributing Writer for Golf World;

Golf Digest Publications today announced that it will be partnering with golf journalist Geoff Shackelford. Mr. Shackelford will take on the title of contributing writer for Golf World and his popular blog, GeoffShackelford.com, will become an affiliate site of GolfDigest.com.

“Geoff’s influence in the golf community is profound,” said Jerry Tarde, Chairman and Editorial Director of Golf Digest Publications. “I sometimes even agree with him, but his perspective always resonates at the highest levels of the game. Our partnership continues a commitment toward delivering the most complete, accurate and insightful news to readers via whatever platform they want.”

Mr. Shackelford will contribute to Golf World in the form of both feature stories and columns. On the web side, GeoffShackelford.com will be featured prominently on GolfDigest.com, and the GolfDigest.com logo will be included on Mr. Shackelford’s homepage banner.

Mr. Shackelford is the author of 10 books, with his writing also appearing in such outlets as Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest, and The Los Angeles Times. In 2004 and 2005, The Golfer magazine named him one of “modern golf’s 10 most influential writers.” In addition to his writing, Mr. Shackelford is engaged in golf course design work, has consulted at several classic golf courses and has taught golf course restoration at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.

Mr. Shackelford attended Pepperdine University, where he was a member of the golf team. He graduated in 1994 with a B.A. in Communication and is a native of Southern California, where he still resides.

Talk about awesome! Most of us golf bloggers hold out the vague hope that one day they’ll be picked up by a larger publication, but know it’s more or less a pipe dream.
