It looks like we’ll get to see Phil Mickelson at the St. Jude Classic and the U.S Open!
Found this over at GolfDigest: Mickelson to Return Next Week
According to sources, Mickelson is basing his schedule on Amy’s latest tests and an anticipated surgical date of late June or early July. Beyond a return to Bethpage, where Mickelson finished second in ’02, the schedule is day-to-day and will be based on Amy’s surgery, treatment and recovery.
In other words, the British Open is still up in the air.
The Mickelsons received encouraging news last week that doctors believe they discovered Amy’s cancer early, and were uplifted by the “Pink Out” on Saturday at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, where Phil was unable to defend.
This is great news and I wish them the best of luck!
It is going to be a very exciting U.S Open this year! It seems like Lefty always seems to bring out his “A” game whenever he’s in the midst of a family crisis. He seems to be one of those guys who functions well under pressure.
How awesome would it be for him to walk away from Bethpage with the trophy? It’d give hope to all of us oppressed left-handed golfers.
