John Duval, owner and writer of intothegrain.com, started the new monthly panel where he’ll be posing questions to various members of the golf media surround the current hot buttons on tour as well as other aspects of the sport.
This month, for the inaugural panel, John asked me to participate. I was joined by three other industry professionals;
Brendon Elliott – Class “A” PGA Professional, golf instructor and owner of Little Linksters. Brendon is a good friend of mine and it was a pleasure joining him on this panel.
Dave Andrews – former television news reporter, avid fan of the Duramed Futures Tour author of a book called Pops and Sunshine and founder of Future Stars Foundation. I had the opportunity to meet Dave earlier this year at his annual Future Stars Foundation Pro-am.
Robb Pritts – member of the Golf Writers Association of America, The National Golf Foundation, is a frequent radio show guest and author of the blog Rocket’s Ramble. Rob is also President of Back 9 Promotions. I met Robb at the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show, but I’ve yet to test his mettle on the golf course! 🙂
The questions for this months discussion panel are below..
- The rules of golf have been a media focus recently with Dustin Johnson, Jim Furyk and Juli Inkster being involved with high-profile rules infractions. Do you think the governing bodies are too harsh with some of the penalties? What rule(s) do you think should be changed?
- What do you think is the biggest story in the world of golf this year? Why?
- Getting back to the rules of golf – In the last 20 years we have seen huge leaps in equipment technology, with balls going further and straighter, clubs hitting it higher and farther with more spin, etc. Despite these advances the average golfer still shoots around 100, just like they did a century ago. Why do you think this is?
You can see my answers as well as the answers given by the other members of the panel over at intothegrain.com.
Feel free to comment on one or all of the questions posed, I’d love to hear your take.
