Drew Kittleson is Florida State University Softmore and the runner-up at the 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship is writing an online diary to chronicle his 2009 Masters Tournament experiences.

During the Masters, he will write daily on his experiences and performances in his initial showing at Augusta National Golf Club.

Here’s his first entry.

Drew Kittleson Diary: No One To Blame But Myself

He didn’t have a very good first round shooting a rough 78 and he attributes it to overworking himself earlier in the week.

Although he had a much better second round (72) I’m sad to say we’ll see no more than two entries in the diary since Kittleson’s missed the cut.

But man, did you see his eagle performance on the 11th?  His second shot consisted of a 200 yard 6-iron that bounced once and fell in the hole, to the eruption of the crowd.

Then it was a triple, bogey, par, eagle..

“Amen Corner got me,” Kittleson said. A small smile here. “But I got part of Amen Corner, too.”

I think this is a really great idea and a great way for fans to connect to the lesser know players (IE: anyone who’s not Tiger Woods. :) ).  I’d love to see more of this from other players and I’m truly curious what diary entry #2 will say.

I tried to find the video of his performance on the 11th but I guess he doesn’t have enough notoriety….

Ah well…  Here’s another equally exciting video of Vijay Singh’s skip across the water ACE!

WHOA!

Can’t wait for more Masters 2009 action tomorrow!!

Tony, a good friend and writer of Hooked on Golf Blog is doing a great job of covering the Tournament.

Btw, how awesome is the Masters customized leaderboard?  I know I’ve been pretty Gung-Ho Masters.com, but man, that website is all you want and more!

2009 Masters LeaderboardI’m able to keep track of all my picks via their customized leaderboard.

and yes, my underdog of underdogs Steve Wilson is not going to make the cut, but I am really proud of the guy and what he’s accomplished.

Oh, yeah, I did pick Tiger Woods as my “Ace” in the hole :)

It’s cool how you can click on each player and see a summary of their stats as compared the field average.

Jim Furyk has 100% GIR! That’s ridiculous

He’s also aveaging 1.87 puts per hole where as the field is 1.62 Tsk Tsk.. :)

He needs to invest in some EyeLine Golf putting aids. :)

Or perhaps some short game coaching via the world famous Brendon Elliott :)

I LOVE the masters!

Enjoy!
