FOR RELEASE March 12, 2010

Golfsmith to Give Away New Callaway Drivers if Phil Mickelson Wins The Masters

MARCH 12, 2010, AUSTIN, TX — As all eyes turn towards The Masters golf tournament with golfer Phil Mickelson the favorite to win, one golf retailer is offering a way for fans to win free golf clubs if Lefty captures his third green jacket.

Golfsmith is teaming up with Callaway Golf to give golfers an CALLAWAY FT-iZ Driveropportunity to get new drivers, free of charge, if Phil Mickelson is victorious this April in Augusta.  The chances for golfers of getting a free driver, much like the Callaway driver that Phil uses, have never been better as Phil Mickelson is the odds-on favorite to win the 2010 Masters.

Starting today and ending April 7, golfers who purchase one of three new drivers – the Callaway Diablo Edge, Callaway FT-Tour or Callaway FT-iZ™ – at any Golfsmith store across the country will have the purchase price of their Callaway driver fully refunded if Phil wins the 2010 Masters at Augusta, April 8-11.

“We’re kicking off the season with the first major of the year and the best player in the field,” said Marty Hanaka, president and CEO of Golfsmith.  “Phil Mickelson is the hottest player on tour and Callaway’s new drivers are better than ever before.  There is pent up demand from golfers for new clubs, and with this promotion exclusively at our stores, it’s a great way to inspire golfers everywhere to root for Phil Mickelson at this year’s Masters.”

CALLAWAY FT Tour Driver“Our 2010 Callaway drivers are generating an unprecedented amount of excitement, and Phil’s popularity is at an all-time high” said Brian Groves, Vice President, Marketing, Callaway Golf.  “We’re thrilled to partner with Golfsmith on this promotion and looking forward to placing the best performing drivers on the market into the hands of consumers.”

Estimates are that thousands of people will take advantage of the promotion, which is available through more than seventy stores from coast to coast.  To learn more about the promotion with Callaway Golf, stop by any Golfsmith store or visit Win With Phil. This promotion is available only in U.S. store locations.  No purchase necessary.

This promotion is only sponsored by Golfsmith International Holdings, Inc. and Callaway Golf and is not sponsored by or endorsed by, and there is no affiliation with Augusta National, Inc. or any other entity.

You can also participate without purchasing one of the three Callaway drivers by going into your local retail location and asking for an official “Win With Phil” entry form. Fill out the form and mail it to the address indicated before April 7th and you’re in!

You also have the opportunity to win a chance to play a round of golf with Phil Mickelson and two of your playing partners by filling out the entry form online.

If you’ve been thinking about purchasing a new driver this year, might be a good idea to hit these clubs and see if one feels right, you might be able to get it for free! :)

That’s a lot of freebies floating around, think it’s going to be a profitable venture?

Have you ever thought about golf and what it is that draws us like moths to a flame? Really, if you think about it, it’s a pretty tough question to answer.

What makes golf so addicting?

It’s certainly not the insane amounts of money you’ll invest in greens fees, golf equipment you’ll replace annually, gloves that will wear out, golf balls that you’ll dunk into the drink and lessons you’ll never remember, all resulting in virtually no ROI.

Nor is it the countless frustrating moments you’ll encounter during a round due to slices, hooks, pushes, pulls, thins, fats, chunks, blades, shorts, longs, and worst of all, three putts.

Lets not forget the numerous hours logged on the range, putting greens, reading golf publications, golf websites, swing tips, youtube golf videos, rounds of golf, and researching the next big thing guaranteed to fix your game.

Nor the many sleepless nights where you lie in bed, staring at the ceiling, reflecting on your most recent round of golf, breaking your swing down into individual frames, and then in your mind, comparing those frames to the other individual frames you have of a certain #1 golfer in the world with questionable morals..

We do all this for a sport where 90% of all the players will never achieve anything greater than below average.

Why? Why do we dedicate our lives to this entity who seems to delight in our misery and who by all accounts appears to be a very cruel spirit.

I don’t have the answer, but I have a theory.

Golf gives us hope.

I came across a brilliant quote in this book I’m reading called, “The Golf Book: 101 Great Stories from the Course and the Clubhouse.”

Golf at its core might be a vile game, but it is not without its charms, among them the shelf life of hope. It has no expiration date. – John Strege

We’ve all experienced it, that one round where everything was falling apart, and those flaws in your swing that you thought were LONG gone, resurface with a vengeance. Just when you’re about ready to call it quits and donate your clubs to charity, you have that perfect hole, where you crank it down the fairway 300 yards off the tee and you knock your second shot to within two feet for a birdie putt (which of course lips out, golf isn’t that generous :) ). You walk off the green with your head held high thinking “you know, I think I’m getting the hang of this game.”

Or better yet, you have that amazing round where you shoot well outside of your handicap zone (and it’s usually with strangers who end up labeling you a sandbagger…) and you feel like all that hard work has started paying off.

These moments give us hope for our game and I like to think that we take that with us after we leave the course and at least for a bit, we can look at the world with slightly rose colored lenses.

Or, if nothing else, have something to brag about for a while.. :)

Why do you play golf?

Last month the 2010 Golf Digest Hot List was released and not at all surprising the 2009 TaylorMade Burner Irons took home a gold rating.

TECH TALK: Dropping overall club weight to increase swing speed was the design goal with this iron. To achieve that, TaylorMade employed lightweight (yet longer) shafts and grips. Progressive-thickness faces (thinner in the long irons, thicker in short irons) provide more springlike effect on longer shots.

PLAYER COMMENTS:
(L) “The pure feeling channels through the grip to your hands and on up into your arms and elbows. This one exudes power.”
(M) “More fun than recess at school. These are ridiculously long.”
(M) “I wouldn’t be afraid to call these clubs ‘honey’ because they are so sweet. If I missed the sweet spot, I couldn’t tell.”

HOT: The real highlight of this club is the sole, which is beveled in the back to give it the workability of a much thinner design. Also, the recessed heel and toe areas will help prevent less-skilled players from laying the sod over the ball.
NOT: The lack of a hybrid doesn’t help hackers. For a company that was at the forefront of the movement, that’s totally mystifying.

I’ve been playing the TaylorMade Burner Irons for about six months now and I’ve been very satisfied with their performance.

Regarding the 2010 Golf Digest Hot List, I’ve read a few different sources who like to kick dirt on it and accuse it of favoring certain manufacturers based on their affiliation with the publication. This may or may not be true, but speaking from my own experiences, the Golf Digest Hot List has been pretty accurate with it’s recommendations.

If you’re in the market for some new golf clubs, I think checking out the Golf Digest Hot List would be a great place to start, it’ll help narrow down the selections. This year they began with 403 and narrowed it down to 94 golf products that they assigned either a gold or silver rating to.

The 2010 Golf Digest Hot List panel consists of 32 judges from various backgrounds and handicaps who give their unbiased opinion of the products they’re testing.

I wouldn’t recommend basing your purchasing decision solely on the Hot List, but get a couple of recommendations from the site and then follow up that up with some online reviews of the products and finally, head to your local golf retailer and knock em around and see what feels best for you.

What’s your opinion on the Golf Digest Hot List? Do you go there for club recommendations?

A little over a month ago, I wrote about the Mojo 6 Golf Tournament which is taking place in Montego Bay, Jamaica at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Course on April 15th & 16th, 2010.

It’s a new raceway golf format that preserves the fundamentals of golf, while adding cumulative scoring and the opportunity to choose your opponent. Played over two days, it includes more than 30 six hole matches in 30 hours. If the traditional 18-hole tournament is a marathon, Raceway Golf is a sprint.

It pits 16 golfers against one another in a series of six-hole matches, competing on the same six holes throughout the tournament. After each round, the hole setups are changed, giving players new challenges and new opponents each time they play.

It’s going to be broadcast by CBS on May 1st & May 2nd.

There’s a $1 million purse on the line with the 1st place winner taking hope $300,000, runner up receiving $110,000 and the other $590,000 is distributed to the remaining 14 places. So everyone participating is guaranteed a payout.

The first 15 players have already been selected and they’re allowing us to vote on the 16th player.

Mojo 6 Golf Tournament Vote for the 16th player

You can vote once a day for your favorite LPGA player, provided she’s on the list.. :)

Tiger Woods Press Conference

Posted by Dave

Here is the Tiger Woods Press Conference courtesy of RedLasso.

Below is the transcript of the Tiger Woods new conference for those who can’t view the video.

Transcript of Tiger Woods’ Apology

Good morning. And thank you for joining me.

Many of you in the room are my friends. Many of you in this room know me. Many of you have cheered for me, or worked with me, or supported me, and now, every one of you has good reason to be critical of me.

I want to say to each of you, simply, and directly, I am deeply sorry for my irresponsible and selfish behavior I engaged in.

I know people want to find out how I could be so selfish and so foolish. People want to know how I could have done these things to my wife, Elin, and to my children. And while I have always tried to be a private person, there are some things I want to say.

Elin and I have started the process of discussing the damage caused by my behavior. As she pointed out to me, my real apology to her will not come in the form of words. It will come from my behavior over time. We have a lot to discuss. However, what we say to each other will remain between the two of us.

I am also aware of the pain my behavior has caused to those of you in this room. I have let you down. I have let down my fans. For many of you, especially my friends, my behavior has been a personal disappointment. To those of you who work for me, I have let you down, personally and professionally. My behavior has caused considerable worry to my business partners.

To everyone involved in my foundation, including my staff, board of directors, sponsors, and most importantly, the young students we reach, our work is more important than ever. Thirteen years ago, my dad and I envisioned helping young people achieve their dreams through education. This work remains unchanged and will continue to grow. From the Learning Center students in Southern California, to the Earl Woods Scholars in Washington, D.C., millions of kids have changed their lives, and I am dedicated to making sure that continues.

But, still, I know I have severely disappointed all of you. I have made you question who I am and how I have done the things I did. I am embarrassed that I have put you in this position. For all that I have done, I am so sorry. I have a lot to atone for.

But there is one issue I really want to discuss. Some people have speculated that Elin somehow hurt or attacked me on Thanksgiving night. It angers me that people would fabricate a story like that. She never hit me that night or any other night. There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage. Ever.

Elin has shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. Elin deserves praise, not blame. The issue involved here was my repeated irresponsible behavior. I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did is not acceptable. And I am the only person to blame. I stopped living by the core values that I was taught to believe in.

I knew my actions were wrong. But I convinced myself that normal rules didn’t apply. I never thought about who I was hurting. Instead, I thought only about myself. I ran straight through the boundaries that a married couple should live by. I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled. Thanks to money and fame, I didn’t have far — didn’t have to go far to find them.

I was wrong. I was foolish. I don’t get to play by different rules. The same boundaries that apply to everyone apply to me. I brought this shame on myself. I hurt my wife, my kids, my mother, my wife’s family, my friends, my foundation, and kids all around the world who admired me.

I’ve had a lot of time to think about what I have done. My failures have made me look at myself in a way I never wanted to before. It is now up to me to make amends. And that starts by never repeating the mistakes I have made. It is up to me to start living a life of integrity.

I once heard — and I believe it is true — it’s not what you achieve in life that matters, it is what you overcome. Achievements on the golf course are only part of setting an example. Character and decency are what really count. Parents used to point to me as a role model for their kids. I owe all of those families a special apology. I want to say to them that I am truly sorry.

It is hard to admit that I need help. But I do. For 45 days, from the end of December to early February, I was in inpatient therapy, receiving guidance for the issues I’m facing. I have a long way to go. But I’ve taken my first steps in the right direction.

As I proceed, I understand people have questions. I understand the press wants me to — to ask me for the details of the times I was unfaithful. I understand people want to know whether Elin and I will remain together. Please know that as far as I’m concerned, every one of these questions and answers is a matter between Elin and me. These are issues between a husband and a wife.

Some people have made up things that never happened. They said I used performance-enhancing drugs. This is completely and utterly false.

Some have written things about my family. Despite the damage I have done, I still believe it is right to shield my family from the public spotlight. They did not do these things. I did. I have always tried to maintain a private space for my wife and children. They have been kept separate from my sponsors, my commercial endorsements, when my children were born, we only released photographs so they … so that the paparazzi could not chase them.

However, my behavior doesn’t make it right for the media to follow my 2½-year-old daughter to school and report the school’s location. They staked out my wife and pursued my mom. Whatever my wrongdoings, for the sake of my family, please leave my wife and kids alone.

I recognize I have brought this on myself. And I know above all I am the one who needs to change. I owe it to my family to become a better person. I owe it to those closest to me to become a better man. That is where my focus will be. I have a lot of work to do. And I intend to dedicate myself to doing it.

Part of following this path for me is Buddhism, which my mother taught me at a young age. People probably don’t realize it, but I was raised a Buddhist, and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years. Buddhism teaches that a craving for things outside ourselves causes an unhappy and pointless search for security. It teaches me to stop following every impulse and to learn restraint. Obviously, I lost track of what I was taught.

As I move forward, I will continue to receive help because I have learned that is how people really do change. Starting tomorrow, I will leave for more treatment and more therapy.

I would like to thank my friends at Accenture and the players in the field this week for understanding why I am making this — these remarks today. In therapy, I have learned that looking at — the importance of looking at my spiritual life and keeping in balance with my professional life. I need to regain my balance and be centered so I can save the things that are most important to me: my marriage and my children.

That also means relying on others for help. I have learned to seek support from my peers in therapy, and I hope someday to return that support to others who are seeking help.

I do plan to return to golf one day. I just don’t know when that day will be. I don’t rule out that it will be this year. When I do return, I need to make my behavior more respectful of the game.

In recent weeks, I have received many thousands of e-mails, letters and phone calls from people expressing good wishes. To everyone who has reached out to me and my family, thank you. Your encouragement means the world to Elin and me. I want to thank the PGA Tour, Commissioner [Tim] Finchem and the players for their patience and understanding while I work on my private life. I look forward to seeing my fellow players on the course.

Finally, there are many people in this room and there are many people at home who believed in me. Today, I want to ask for your help. I ask you to find room in your hearts to one day believe in me again. Thank you.

Let’s get some discussion the Tiger Woods apology, what are your thoughts?

When I think about Portugal, golf isn’t something that comes to mind. I think this sentiment holds true for most of us who live in the U.S.

Actually, when I think of Portugal, images of nautical equipment and world exploration come to the forefront, as well as a Portuguese guy I knew back from my USMC days who took a trip to Italy with us and was able, to a certain degree, to translate for us. I say to a certain degree, because, on one particular day, we lost our shirts to a taxi driver, he charged us well over what a taxi should cost and none of us were the wiser until the next cab we took…

As chance would have it, we found the original taxi driver again and when asked why he over charged us so much.. he shrugged and replied “I don’t drive a taxi, I drive a limousine..” :)

But, to our golfing European neighbors, Golf in Portugal has been at the forefront of travel holidays.  If you take some time to consider the destination, it’s not hard to understand why. Most important, at least, in my mind, year round fair golf weather. Couple that with, great hotels and resorts, beautiful shorelines, romance and adventure, you’ve got the makings of an unforgettable trip.

Golf  in Algarve

Algarve features a remarkable collection of first class championship courses and amazing resorts strung along the sun-kissed coastline.

With its brilliant, sunny climate and dramatic courses throughout the region, it’s not difficult to see why the Algarve is one of the most popular golfing destination in Europe.

Whether you’re a beginner taking a break from the daily grind, a skilled-amateur looking to test your game or a professional in between tournaments, the golf courses of the Algarve can give you what you seek

There are many golf courses in the Algarve, ranging from nine-hole courses stretched over Algarve grassland, to breathtaking coastal 18-hole courses set amongst the beautiful picturesque cliffs. This makes golf here enjoyable for everyone, regardless of ability, and guarantees that you will find the perfect course for you.

Lisbon Golf Coast

Until recently, the Lisbon coast, in golfing terms, has long been in the shadow of the Algarve, whose portfolio of outstanding courses and resorts has rightly placed it at the sharp end of European golfing destinations. In 2006, the Lisbon coast was rated “Bsst European Golf Destination” by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators.

Lisbon is one of the most historical cities in all of Europe and within 30 miles of the city, most major events in Portugal happen. The attraction of the Lisbon coast is that you can play terrific courses like Oitavos, Quinta da Marinha and Praia D’El Rey, but you can also get a genuine taste of the Portuguese culture; along the shoreline are dotted sublime fishing villages and towns like Cascais and Estoril, while the capital city of Lisbon is a thriving hub of cultural activity where you will experience the vibrant combination produced when the traditional Portuguese charm meets the vitality of a young, up-and-coming urban environment.

It’s one of the few destinations where you can mix history, culture and golf. Not to mention, it’s a surfing hot spot. 99.8% of visitors surveyed not only said they intended to return, but that they would strongly recommend the region to a friend.

Madeira Island Golf

The natural hues of green and blue make Madeira the ideal setting for a round of golf. Madeira has the best that life has to offer. The temperature is mild and stable all year round. Its unspoilt natural environment offers fresh air, unforgettable walks and breathtaking scenery. Considered a real golf paradise, Madeira is fast becoming the definitive choice for both amateur and professional golfers alike.

Host of the annual PGA European Tour event the  Madeira Islands Open BPI – Portugal, which this year is taking place at the Porto Santo Golf Course. This course was designed by Severiano Ballesteros and it stretches all the way across the island from dune-rolling beach to dramatic basalt cliffs. It offers that ideal combination – natural beauty and a challenging game. He took a minimalist approach, keeping as much of the environment intact as possible.

Given its location off the North-Western coast of Africa, Madeira benefits from a lovely year-round climate, and thanks to this has long been established as a beautiful holiday destination. The capital city of Funchal is a charming blend of the quintessential Madeiran culture and the new vibrancy of increased tourism, while around the island are natural landscapes of outstanding natural beauty.

Spectacular mountain views are characteristic of the island, but Madeira is also blessed with some terrific hotels and golf courses.

Tiger Woods, after nearly three months of silence,  plans to issue a public statement on Friday, February 19th, 2010.

Rumor is that he will apologize for his past behavior and discuss his plans regarding his much needed return to professional golf.

In a statement today, Tiger Woods agent, Mark Steinberg said that Tiger would speak at 11 a.m Friday at Ponte Vedra Beach at TPC Sawgrass where the PGA Tour has it’s headquarters.

It’s been rumored that his return to the world of golf will be at the 2010 Tavistock Cup where Isleworth will be battling to win back the trophy from Lake Nona.

In other… betrayal news, this day in history (Feb 19th) during the American Revolution in 1777, Congress overlooked Benedict Arnold for promotion to Major General, which led him to conspire with the British to hand over the fort at West Point, New York.

“On this day in 1777, the Continental Congress votes to promote Thomas Mifflin; Arthur St. Clair; William Alexander, Lord Stirling; Adam Stephen; and Benjamin Lincoln to the rank of major general. Although the promotions were intended in part to balance the number of generals from each state, Brigadier General Benedict Arnold felt slighted that five junior officers received promotions ahead of him and, in response, threatened to resign from the Patriot army.

In a letter dated April 3, 1777, General George Washington wrote to Arnold from his headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey, and confessed that he “was surprised, when I did not see your name in the list of Major Generals.” Thinking that the omission of Arnold’s name was an error, Washington discouraged the disappointed Arnold from taking any “hasty Step.”

To Arnold’s dismay, he soon learned that his commander in chief was wrong, and he submitted his resignation to the Congress in July 1777, but withdrew it at Washington’s urging. Despite having the support of George Washington, Arnold continued to feel unjustly overlooked by his superiors. Finally, in 1780, Arnold betrayed his country by offering to hand over the Patriot-held fort at West Point, New York, to the British…”

February 19th is also the birthday of up and coming Futures Tour star Carling Coffing and mighty fine golf blogger, Mr. John Duval from IntoTheGrain.com. Both will be joining me in this Saturday’s 2nd Annual Future Stars Foundation ProAm.

Tiger Woods Press Conference

I thought the days of discrimination were over…

Recently, there’s been a lot of buzz going on about the 2010 Bridgestone J38 Irons. I spoke to quite a few folks who had hit them out at demo day during the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show, and not a single person was disappointed. Most said they were probably one of the best sets of 2010.  They released two sets in the J38 series. Both are designed for mid handicap to professional golfers.

Bridgestone J38 Cavity Back Irons

  • Midsize premium forged 1020 carbon steel
  • Magnesium composite enhances perimiter weighting for more forgiveness on off-center hits and dampens vibration for better feel
  • Tapered sole design for versatility in shot making
  • Trailing and Leading edge relief for better performance from a variety of lies
  • Project X™ flighted shaft
  • Golf Pride® Tour Velvet® Grip
  • Available Right Hand Only: 3, 4-PW

I was extremely interested in trying out the dual cavity backs, they’re a bit more forgiving than the standard cavity backs, but they still retain that forged workability & shot shaping.

Bridgestone J38 Dual Cavity Back Irons

  • Midsize premium forged 1020 carbon steel
  • Dual Pocket cavity benefits:
  • Removes discretionary weight to the perimeter for more forgiveness
  • Provides more mass directly behind the hitting area for better feel
  • Tapered sole design for versatility in shot making
  • Trailing and Leading edge relief for better performance from a variety of lies
  • Project X™ flighted shaft
  • Golf Pride® Tour Velvet® Grip
  • Available Right Hand Only: 3, 4-PW

Imagine my disappointment when I went to Bridgestone’s website to learn more about the J38’s only to find that they’re right handed only! Really? Can you believe that?

Left handed golfers (like myself) only make up a small percentage (modified due to lack of specific %’s) of the total golf market. It seems to me that although it’s not the majority, it is still a good chunk of potential consumers. To alienate them all by refusing to make clubs they can hit seems dumb.

Now, I know I’m slightly biased, in that I’m in the offended party, but I would think that if I were a club manufacturer like Bridgestone, meaning that I’m not one of the top dog club makers out there, I would want to do everything possible to get new and recurring customers, including making clubs for both sides of the ball.

It’s not only the irons, they did an all around F-you Lefties, the Bridgestone J38 Drivers and the Bridgestone J38 Fairway Woods are also right hand only…

Ah well.. That’s enough of my ranting, me and my fellow lefties need to need to catch a ride sitting in the back of the bus and drink from our segregated water fountains….. :)

There’s still plenty of other companies who “swing” both ways, I still love the 2009 TaylorMade Burner Irons!

:)

Have a great weekend!

-Dave

Battle of the Golf Blogs is an epic struggle where golf bloggers go head to head in a life or death contest that can have only one victor. The battlegrounds for the contest are agreed upon by all involved and the prize is an undisclosed amount of money, bragging rights for a year and a single dollar bill autographed in blood (ok, not really..). :) The format is net match play.

It began last year in 2009 between Tony Korologos from Hooked on Golf Blog and myself and it took place at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Tony kicked my butt up and down the front and back nine and I left the course with my wallet a little lighter and my ego severely damaged.

BOGB 2010 took place out at Falcon’s Fire Golf Course on 01/31/10 and we included a third golf blogger, Mr. John Duval from Into the Grain.

As you can see by the evidence below, this years victory goes to the writer of Orlando’s best golf blog! :) (that’s me, if you didn’t know…)

For those of you who are having trouble reading it, the dollar above states the following;

Humbly Submitted to OGB (Orlando Golf Blogger) from mediaguru @ HOG (Hooked On Golf Blog). 2011 is the tie breaker

If you can’t tell, on the bottom left of the dollar are the tear stains Tony left whilst signing the trophy.

This one is from John, and it states “Dave, enjoy it while you can!” On the back of the dollar, you can almost make it out, it says “PS: I always knew you were the better golfer -JFD

:)

Seriously, though, it was a great time yesterday and neither of those two were playing very well, and they had a HUGE amount of strokes to overcome. I tell you, being a high handicapper playing against a low handicapper sucks, because if you win, it an empty victory because your opponents had to give you 25 strokes and if they win, it’s an especially big deal, because not only did they beat you, but they beat you by A LOT!

Perhaps next year we can add a couple other golf bloggers into the mix?

Now, to deflate my ego a bit, on the 16th hole, John bet me a dollar that he could win the hole, using my clubs, playing left handed… Check out the epic struggle..

Many thanks to Tony for putting the video together!

Day two of the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show was just as action packed as Day One. As I sit here reflecting on my two days at the show, it blows my mind how fast the time went and how many companies and people I didn’t have time to see.

I spent a solid 16 hours at the show and I can name at least ten companies off the top of my head that I had on the “to visit” list and never made it.

Ah well… no use crying over a spilled Arnold Palmer… :) Same deal as before, I’m going to be writing up some in depth posts over the next two weeks about the products I covered, but here’s a quick rundown of what’s on tap.

FIT For Golf – Fitness Illustrated Training

I picked up a product for the Golf Fitness Series, it’s the FIT for Golf medicine ball.

STX ProFit 5 Putter

While still drooling over my awesome 2010 BB1 Bettinardi Putter, I stumbled upon the STX (pronounced S T X not sticks :) ) ProFit Puttter with an interchangeable face plate.

Met DURHAMED Futures Tour Pro Lindsey Bergeon at the LPGA Booth

Had the very cool opportunity to meet an up and coming player who’s going to be playing in the Future Star Foundation Pro-Am on February 20th.

Odyssey Backstryke Marxman

New for 2010, I spend a good bit of time knocking around the new Odyssey Backstryke.

Met LPGA Pro Paula Creamer

… Awesome, need I say more? :) She was over at the Sundog booth, I’m sure they have great sunglasses… but I wouldn’t know..

Sumi-G Headcovers, Belt Buckles & More…

Spent some time with Tony K aka MediaGuru from HOG and The Golf Space and he gave me a good rundown of the Sumi-G Product Line. Pretty Awesome..

Flair Hair

If they were selling these at the show, I’d have a whole new line of headwear! :) There’s something totally awesome about donning a Flair Hair helm..

Met PGA Pro Brian Gay at the Bettinardi Booth

Brian Gay signed a sponsorship deal with Bettinardi and was at the booth signing autographs. I almost had an interview for all you awesome readers.. but he was gone by the time I came back to the booth.

FINALLY met LPGA Pro, twitterholic and Lidgurt aficionado Christina Kim

Call me crazy, but I was more exited about meeting CK than I was meeting Paula. Yeah, it was totally cool..

Also on tap, but yet to be photographed;

  • Winn Lite Grips
  • Cleatskins Golf
  • Spotless Swing Golf Towel
  • Cleveland Classic & Classic BRZ Putters
  • Srixon Z-Star X Tour Yellow Golf Ball

I’m pretty certain there’s some I’ve missed, but as you can see.. I’ve got my work cut out for me over the next few weeks!

I wish there was a PGA Merchandise show every week…
