Tiger Woods to be fined for comments regarding rules

I think this is a bunch of crap.

Woods to be fined for criticism of rules official

What really irritates me is the fact that Tiger, in a pretty  uncharacteristic move, stands up for Padraig Harrington and sorta helps justify why he had that blow up hole and in doing so, he get’s fined for it.

Woods was bothered after his four-shot victory Sunday because he and Padraig Harrington were put on the clock at the par-5 16th. He said that caused Harrington to rush three difficult shots, leading to triple bogey.

I think using the term criticism to describe Tiger Wood’s comments is a bit harsh,

Woods said he told Harrington after it was over, “I’m sorry that John got in the way of a great battle.”

“I don’t think that Paddy would have hit the pitch shot that way if he was able to take his time, look at it, analyze it,” Woods said. “But he was on the clock, had to get up there quickly and hit it.”

Tiger made a very valid point, Jon did get in the way of a great battle, it would’ve been great to see them duke it out on the remaining three holes and one or the other seal the victory with an amazing 100ft putt 🙂

One of my good friends and fellow golf aficionado replied to my rant on twitter by saying,

@DaveLair What would have been cooler if Tiger handed the trophy to Paddy while he decked Fincher..the fines the same.”

For protection’s sake, said commentor shall remain anonymous.. 🙂

Ah well, I think it was a bad call to fine him for voicing his opinion and for standing up for a fellow player.
